Environment with more natural lighting and reduced visual fatigue

Implementation of Translucent Sheets to Optimize Lighting

Context and Detected Problem:
During a preventive maintenance inspection, leaks, advanced corrosion, and loss of thermoacoustic properties were detected on the metal roof of the warehouse. Additionally, the low entry of natural light created shadowed areas in critical work zones, increasing operational risks and contributing to visual fatigue among staff.

Implemented Solution:
The project involved the safe removal of the damaged sheets and installation of a new high-gauge galvanized painted sheet roof, combined with sections of translucent polycarbonate sheets. This strategic layout significantly increased lumens throughout the production area, enhancing visibility in critical tasks and reducing the need for artificial lighting during the day. All work was carried out in compliance with NOM-009-STPS for work at heights, using certified anchor systems and industrial safety procedures.

Results Achieved:
- Significant increase in natural lighting in the work area.
- Reduction of visual fatigue among personnel, promoting focus and well-being.
- Improved operational safety by reducing shadowed zones.
- Enhanced thermal and acoustic insulation of the warehouse.
- Elimination of leaks and structural protection against corrosion.

Coordination and Execution:
The project was executed in collaboration with the maintenance, industrial safety, and production departments, ensuring each replacement stage aligned with the plant’s operating schedule without halting production. The integration of translucent sheets not only solved a structural issue but also generated a direct and sustainable improvement in working conditions.
